PhD position in governance / climate engineering
Location: Leipzig, Germany.
The UFZ invites applications from outstanding PhD candidates within the new CE-Sci-Pol II project Responsible Research and Governance at the Science-Policy Nexus of Climate Change: New Discourses, Epistemic Communities and Climate Policy Regimes through Climate Engineering? funded by the DFG Science Priority Program “Climate Engineering: Risks, Challenges, Opportunities?” (http://www.spp-climate-engineering.de/). The project will explore the emergence of approaches and regimes how to govern climate engineering research and their applications.
The work will be embedded into the wider research agenda of science policy interfaces (http://www.ufz.de/index.php?en=38006) and environmental governance (https://www.ufz.de/index.php?en=38667).
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with
- A master degree in Science and Technology Studies (Responsible research and innovation) and/ or sociology and/ or political science (international relations and global governance)
- social science skills (empirical social sciences expert interviews)
- fluency in English, written and oral presentation skills
- the ability to work proactively in an interdisciplinary team
