Lecture: Climate Engineering: A Problem Solved or a Problem Magnified?

1. December 2016, Amsterdam / NL

"Over the last decade, the idea of solving the climate crisis using technical means has gained an increasing amount of attention. If the social and political challenges of reducing emissions are too great, why not look for scientific and engineering solutions instead? Unfortunately, big technologies can raise complicated social issues and climate engineering turns out to be not as straightforward as promised. During this lunch lecture Professor Chrisopher J. Preston will look at some of the ethical and political questions raised by the prospect of deliberately engineering the climate."
