Frischmann, Chad Jonathan; et al. (2020): Drawdown’s ‘System of Solutions’ Helps to Achieve the SDGs

Frischmann, Chad Jonathan, Mamta Mehra, Ryan Allard, Kevin Bayuk, João Pedro Gouveia, and Miranda R. Gorman (2020): Drawdown’s ‘System of Solutions’ Helps to Achieve the SDGs. Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Living reference work entry. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-71067-9_100-1.

‌"This entry describes the linkages between “Drawdown solutions” and the targets and goals set out by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is proposed that the implementation of these solutions can substantially help to achieve the SDGs by 2030, with even greater gains when implementing actions in parallel as a “system of solutions” enabled by broad-based, effective partnerships at local, regional, and international scales."

Service, Robert F. (2020): The Carbon Vault

Service, Robert F. (2020): The Carbon Vault. Science 369 (6508): 1156–59. https://doi.org/10.1126/science.369.6508.1156.

"Every year, mining and industrial activity generates billions of tons of slurries, gravel, and other wastes that have a high pH. These alkaline wastes, which sit either behind fragile dams or heaped in massive piles, present a threat to people and ecosystems. But alkaline wastes could also help the world avert climate disaster. Reacting these wastes with carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air converts gaseous carbon into minerals and neutralizes the wastes' alkalinity."
