"Meeting the world's goals for slowing climate change is proving to be a huge challenge. Some people argue that we should research ways to cool the climate directly--sometimes called geoengineering or climate intervention. Others are concerned that even researching these techniques may lead to irreversible harms and unintended consequences. All sides agree that this is not an issue to be decided by scientists alone."
