Lecture: The Peculiar Ethics of Geoengineering
21. November 2017, Chicago / USA
"As efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions continue to stall, some scientists argue that we must prepare for grand technological interventions into the climate system ("geoengineering"), including by commencing small-scale field testing. In this lecture, Stephen Gardiner (Professor of Philosophy, University of Washington) will discuss the large number of ethical issues raised by the prospect of geoengineering—including concerns about welfare, rights, justice, and political legitimacy."
