Conference: Climate Engineering Conference 2017 (CEC17)

9.-12. October 2017, Berlin / Germany

"At this important juncture in the debate, CEC17 will provide the opportunity to take stock of what these developments mean for the future research into the proposed techniques which thus far have been subsumed under the term climate engineering. The conference will be held in Berlin, Germany, from October 9 – 12, 2017. It will address approaches for both Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Solar Radiation Management (SRM, also known as Albedo Modification), situating them within broader discussions of climate change and, in particular, mitigation and adaptation."

Workshop: SRMGI Global Forum

9. October 2017, Berlin / Germany

"During the week of 9 October 2017, SRMGI will hold the SRMGI Global Forum in Berlin, Germany. The Global Forum will bring together participants from past and planned SRMGI outreach meetings around the developing world: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Guadeloupe, India, Jamaica, Jordan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal, South Africa and Thailand. The participants will be encouraged to discuss the socio-political, ethical, and scientific dimensions of SRM with their colleagues from the Global South, as they work together to consider what the next steps for SRM research governance should be.

The Global Forum is being held in conjunction with the Climate Engineering Conference 2017. This is the follow-up to CEC14, the largest conference on climate engineering to date. It will draw the world’s leading climate engineering researchers to Berlin, plus interested stakeholders from many disciplines and sectors. The participants of the SRMGI Global Forum will attend CEC17, allowing them to connect with the SRM research community in order to establish and strengthen North-South connections, dialogue, and mutual learning."
